Energy Audit in STMicroelectronics
STMicroelectronics engaged an energy service company (ESCO) to carry out a detailed energy audit to identify potential improvement opportunities in energy efficiencies by fine-tuning the plant from the design conditions. Through implementation of the measures identified, they improved their chiller efficiency from 0.529 to 0.458 kW/RT, and achieved electricity savings of S$280k per year. More>>
Hewlett-Packard Singapore Plans Ahead for Energy Conservation
Energy conservation has always been a primary focus of Hewlett-Packard Singapore’s Facilities Operations team for many years. Hewlett-Packard Singapore’s energy conservation efforts can be traced as far back to the mid-90s. It was managed as a site-wide program until late 1999 before being transformed into a global cost reduction initiative for two years. Subsequently, the initiative took on a broader scope and continues till today as a utility cost savings program. These efforts have paid off and for the past five years, HP Singapore has managed to save 27,000 MWh. More>>
Simple housekeeping results in energy savings for Tuas Power
An accredited ESCO for the process industry, Actsys Process Management Consultants uses thermodynamic or process flow sheeting modeling tools to model the current performance of the plant. By comparing the actual performance with the optimum performance, the state of degradation for each plant component is identified, allowing early corrective maintenance to be planned. For example, planned maintenance on a bypass valve for Tuas Power Ltd recommended by Actsys saved about 10,350 MWh per year and $360,000 annually in fuel costs. More>>
