fuel economy labelling scheme for passenger vehicles

The Fuel Economy Labelling Scheme for Passenger Vehicles is administered by the Singapore Environment Council under the umbrella of the Singapore Green Labelling Scheme and supported by the National Environment Agency.

The main objective of this scheme is to raise consumer awareness of fuel economy in passenger vehicles. By making fuel economy information readily available at point-of-sale, consumers would be able to make a more informed decision when purchasing new vehicles.

Fuel Economy Label

The Fuel Economy Labels are affixed on all show room vehicles that are registered.  The labels are prominently displayed at the top right corner of front windscreens.

The Label provides information on fuel economy of vehicles measured under UN ECE R101 (urban cycle) test conditions.  As the Fuel Economy figure displayed on the label is based on common test standard, it allows fair comparison between different vehicles that display the label.

Note: The fuel economy rating on the label may be different from the fuel consumption of the car model under actual driving condition.  The objective of the Fuel Economy Label is to highlight the fuel economy of the car model under a standard test condition to the car buyer.  It is not possible to simulate every vehicle condition, traffic condition and driving habits of the car buyer in the test.  Other car model that has the Fuel Economy Label is subjected to the same test standard.  This allows the car buyer to compare the car models in terms of fuel economy on the same basis.
