Seminar on "Energy Audit of Common Services of Selected HDB Residential Blocks - Findings and Recommendations"
15 Oct 2004

The seminar was organised by the National Environment Agency (NEA) and PREMAS International Limited.

PREMAS completed its energy audit of the common services of 40 typical HDB blocks in July 2004.This energy audit project was supported by NEA's Innovation for Environmental Sustainability (IES) Fund.

Assoc Prof Koo Tsai Kee, Chairman of the NEEC, gave the opening address. He emphasised the importance of managing the energy bill when operating town councils.

This was because by improving energy efficiency and reducing electricity consumption, Town Councils were helping to reduce air pollution produced during power generation, hence contributing to the national environmental goal of Clean Air.

The findings from PREMAS' energy audit could suggest ways Town Councils could manage their estate's energy consumption. Assoc Prof Koo also welcomed more such projects to apply for IES funding.

Dr Lal Jayamaha, Director of the PREMAS Energy Centre, presented the findings and recommendations arising from the energy audit to the participants, which included representatives from the Town Councils.

The energy audit report and appendices can be downloaded here.
